Medieval Majesty

Tilda Publishing
This 50-page booklet contains easy-to-follow charts, detailed stitch diagrams, pathway diagrams, colour charts and photographs to help you work this design in back stitch or in reversible straight line stitches, as you wish.

It includes invaluable expert advice on starting and finishing threads; which stitches to use; which will give the best results, and why – advice that you can apply to your stitching projects across the board.
Queene Besse's Chesse Boarde
Queen Elizabeth I was apparently a keen chess player, having first learnt the game from her tutor, the humanist scholar, Roger Ascham.

The design incorporates a sumptuous, but subtle play of rich black with gold which distinguishes so many of the beautiful examples of Elizabethan blackwork which have come down to us.

This 36-page spiral bound booklet contains 64 different blackwork charts (each of the 32 'black' squares has 2 variations), historical notes, background information and full instructions.
